Starting Therapy

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process where client and therapist work together to identify issues, explore their development, and expand awareness to move forward. Most often, therapy isn't a straight line from problem to solution, and we find meaning along the way. No matter the form therapy takes, some things remain the same for each person:

I see my clients as experts in their own lives. At times, I may offer resources or education that is meant to assist, but this is not advice.

Privacy is very important, and a client will never be identified outside of session without a need or consent.

I am available between sessions. I provide all clients with an email address and phone number where I may be reached in case of an urgent need.

Method

I provide therapy for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship problems, behavioral issues, and past difficult experience that affect them today. Many have found me during times of transition with their partners, work or family. I work mainly with adults and welcome those from diverse backgrounds.

In sessions, I often spend time with clients exploring how they learned about themselves in their families growing up. The way we interact and attach to others takes form when we are very young and can change throughout our lifetime. Therapy is a place to explore the patterns we fall into with others, toward finding contentment in ourselves. My focus is building relationships with clients and I incorporate cognitive behavioral, mindfulness and somatic approaches, among other perspectives. I believe being transparent with my clients is essential for working well together.

Background

I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than ten years of experience. In other settings, I worked as a clinician in a community mental health clinic and later as a therapist for individuals with persistent mood and thought conditions, before transitioning to private practice in 2017.  Outside of my clinical experience, I have training as a yoga and meditation teacher.

Fees

I am paneled with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, and Humana. If your insurance is with a different company, I am able to provide an out-of-network reimbursement form. A portion of our session may be covered. My self-pay rate is  $150 and I offer a reduced rate on a case-by-case basis.

Location

I practice from my home office in Northwest Atlanta, and offer both in person and virtual sessions. Availability, address and directions are available upon request.
