Meeting Individually

Personal development is a complex process and as human beings, it's often best to approach change using simple measures. This is where one to one therapy can really help.

There's a wide range of generally agreed on needs we have as people. These may include autonomy, self esteem, support and belonging within meaningful relationships, safety, and acceptance of our limitations. We are all more or less aware of how our needs create direction in life, and the impact our early experiences had on ways we relate. Taking a closer look with a therapist is a worthwhile use of time and energy for many.

At the same time, most people find or return to therapy during challenging periods in life, such as conflict with others, losing a loved one or separating from a partner, a change in employment or health, or generally feeling alone with an issue. Immediate stressors take priority. It's necessary to develop resources as we begin to explore issues in greater depth.

"The way out is through," stands out as a common description of the healing process and may be a useful one. At the same time, it's important to note that lasting change occurs alongside what happened in the past. Effective therapy doesn't lead to erasure, or an escape. The way forward is with acceptance of what has been, and openness for what could be. â€‹
